WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE PLANE ... THE CONCORDE? There was a terrible accident on takeoff in 2000, in Paris. 100 passengers and 9 crew members were killed. The aircraft were retired about 3 years later, because of reduced passenger loads after the accident. There were 14 operational SSTs (Concordes), plus 6 prototypes. Most of the remaining planes are on display in various museums around the world. There is one on the Intrepid museum in NY harbor.
Unfortunately, I never got to fly in one. The fares across the Atlantic were about 30x the cost of standard jets, up to $8000/seat.
